Seasonal Influenza Vaccinations: Adverse event reporting
Seasonal influenza vaccination in children aged five years and under has been suspended until further notice following a higher than expected number of reports of febrile reactions in young children.

Christine Selvey, Senior Director, Communicable Diseases Branch, Queensland Health, has provided the following alert regarding adverse event reporting for distribution to general practice.

Queensland Health is seeking General Practice assistance in:
1. Notifying immediately of any Adverse Events Following Immunisation (AEFI); and
2. Providing vaccination data on children up to 10 years of age vaccinated in 2010 with seasonal influenza vaccine.
In addition to other adverse events, providers are also asked to report on children up to 10 years with history of fever, or a fever of 37.50C or over, plus or minus vomiting.
