As we approach the annual NWQPHC General Practitioner education weekend and Annual General Meeting, we are eager to ensure the education content provided through the sessions, meets the need of our members. To ensure we are well informed, we ask that you take 1 minute of your time and complete the on line survey (consisting of 3 questions). - The RACGP announces its new President (15 June 2010)
The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) is pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Claire Jackson as President-elect. Professor Jackson is a GP and GP Supervisor in Inala, Brisbane and is Professor in General Practice and Primary Health Care and Head of Discipline at the University of Queensland. She has been chair of the RACGP Council and the RACGP Queensland Faculty. She has had significant involvement in health reform in many areas, serving on the National Primary Care Strategy Expert Advisory Group and providing a commissioned paper for the National Health and Hospital Reform Commission. The College Council congratulates Professor Jackson on her appointment and looks forward to working with her over the next two years. - M5 Project online health risk assessment tool gets men fighting for their health
The M5 Project, an initiative of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP), has introduced a new online health risk assessment tool aimed at getting men to take an active role in focusing on their health and wellbeing. M5 HEALTH ONLINE is designed to engage men with a personalised experience that includes targeted health information and interactive risk assessments, coupled with professional ongoing support and advice. It provides clear and concise information on diseases and conditions, as well as wellness and lifestyle issues. The unique factor about the program is its ability to track and monitor behavioural change and encourage men to maintain their own health and wellbeing in a user-friendly and interactive format, keeping men motivated with interesting facts and resources, to-do lists and interactive tools and calculators. - Remote GP Training - Applications Close 9 July
Applications for the Remote Vocational Training Scheme’s 2011 intake close at 5pm on 9 July 2010. RVTS offers an alternative pathway to FACRRM and/or FRACGP/FARGP for GPs working in rural and remote locations. The curriculum is delivered via distance education and registrars are supervised remotely, so the program is suitable for solo practitioners. The Alzheimer’s Association Queensland wish to compile a comprehensive contact list of GP’s throughout Queensland in order to facilitate ongoing contact and collaboration between their organisation and practitioners , with the aim to provide patients with dementia and their families with information and links to local services via our 24 Hr Dementia Helpline.
